Three Tiny Unicode Styles From One Input

These aren't a smaller font size — every character is swapped for a real Unicode code point from a separate small-letterform alphabet, which is why the tiny look survives being pasted into a plain-text field like a bio, chat message, or spreadsheet cell where you can't control font size directly.

What's the difference between Small Caps, Superscript, and Subscript?

Small Caps renders every letter as an uppercase-shaped letter at lowercase height — it has the best Unicode coverage of the three, with a dedicated glyph for every letter except lowercase and uppercase "x," which has no small-caps Unicode form and passes through unchanged. Superscript raises characters above the baseline, the style used for exponents (x²) and footnote markers. Subscript lowers characters below the baseline, used in chemical formulas (H₂O) and mathematical notation. Both superscript and subscript are case-insensitive — typing an uppercase or lowercase letter produces the same tiny glyph either way, since Unicode only defines one small-letterform series per letter for each of those two styles.

Why do Superscript and Subscript look so similar for some letters?

Unicode's subscript range is missing dedicated forms for c, f, g, w, y, and z. Rather than leave those letters unconverted, this tool substitutes the closest available Unicode character — which happens to be the superscript version of that same letter, since it's the nearest visual match. Every other letter in Subscript uses a genuine dedicated subscript glyph.

Do all three styles convert numbers?

Superscript and Subscript both have complete, dedicated digit ranges (0–9) and convert numbers automatically. Small Caps has no dedicated digit range in Unicode at all, so numbers pass through unchanged in that style. Superscript and Subscript also convert a small set of math symbols — + − = ( ) — useful for exponents like (n-1) or 2+2=4 written entirely in raised or lowered characters.

Are Unicode tiny text characters accessible to screen readers?

Not reliably. Screen readers may announce Unicode superscript and subscript characters by their formal Unicode names rather than as normal letters, which can be confusing. Small Caps tends to fare slightly better since most of its letters map to standard Latin code points, but results still vary by screen reader and operating system. For content that needs to be reliably accessible, use your platform's built-in formatting options instead of Unicode characters.
