A Real Slash Through Every Character, Not an HTML Tag
Type your text and a diagonal slash appears through every character automatically. This tool applies Unicode's combining long solidus overlay character (U+0338) after each letter, digit, or punctuation mark you type, so the slashed-out look is embedded in the text itself.
Unlike HTML formatting, which only works on web pages that render HTML, this slash effect is plain Unicode text — it survives being copied and pasted into places that strip formatting, like social media bios, chat messages, and comments.
How does the slash effect actually work?
Unicode includes "combining characters" that attach a mark to whatever comes right before them rather than standing on their own. This tool inserts the combining long solidus overlay (U+0338) immediately after every character in your input — letters, digits, and punctuation alike — so each one gets its own diagonal slash through it.
Why don't spaces get a slash through them?
Spaces are left alone on purpose, matching the real, verified behavior of the reference tool this was built from: a slash mark on a blank space has nothing to visually attach to, so skipping it keeps word boundaries clean and readable rather than adding an invisible, pointless mark between words. Every other character, including punctuation, does get the slash.
How is this different from Strikethrough Text?
Both use a Unicode combining character to cross out your text, just with a different stroke: Slash uses a diagonal line through each character, while the Strikethrough Text Generator uses a horizontal line and applies it to spaces too, not just visible characters.
